Integrating Robotics in Co-curricular Program
As an initial step to integrating robotics in the students' co-curricular program, OLOPS College through the initiative of the Institutional Affairs Office organized a Robotics Demonstration on September 9, 2019 at the school gym.
Facilitated by REF Robotics Team, the manipulative robots assembled out of Lego EV3 pieces wowed thousands of OLOPSCian students from Grade 4 to Grade 12. The controllable robots were made to traverse on coded lines and wrestle on what the Robotics Team called, white lined arena using command.com of an Android or Smart phone during the demonstration. Volunteers from the crowd were thrilled when they started to animate the EV3 robots. Different Robotic designs were also shown to the students to connect them to the usefulness and operations of robots having the computer system and sensory feedback to control them.
Incidentally, Special Robotics Classes (SRC) which are open to Grades 4 to 12 will start before the semester ends. The SRC aims to immerse the students to how robots can potentially transform lives and work practices and replicate human actions as they start to assemble and program a robot. This will also hone the participants' logical reasoning as the Robotics uses science, technology, engineering and math. "Will robots inherit the earth? Yes, buy they will become our children."
