High School Launches GO GREEN and CLEAN

In response to the DepEd Memorandum No.293 s. 2007 Gulayan Sa Paaralan Project to elevate the environmental concern, consciousness and issues, the High School Science Subject Area, in cooperation with the Earth’s Savers Club, launched “Vegetable Gardening/ Planting Activity” last September 19, 2014. This is one of the most effective ways of restoring the environmental balance because plants absorb the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere thus reducing the green house effect that causes the global climatic changes. The objectives are to realize the benefits the plants can provide in maintaining the environmental balance to support the worldwide advocacy in saving the planet earth through planting, growing and caring, and to plant and grow herbal/medicinal plants/vegetable seeds/seedlings effectively

As part of the Go Green and Clean program, the Science teachers conducted a film showing entitled “`PLANET PHILIPPINES” prior to the “Vegetable Gardening/Tree Planting Activity “to give students awareness on issues related to the alarming environmental situations the world is facing right now. The film aimed at encouraging the viewers to be serious in protecting Mother Earth. The Science teachers requested the students to donate planting materials such as herbal /medicinal plants /vegetable seeds/seedlings and garden soil available at home.

Selected Kabalikat members, club moderators and Science teachers also participated in the vegetable seeds/seedling planting activity as show of support and care for the Mother Earth.
